Our Calendar Girls

Cassidy & Rebecca Maye have been included in the 2009 calendar for The International Blessed Broodmares Project! They are the month of April, which is fitting. TIBBP is who helped raise funds in the beginning to get Cass adopted. The monies raised by the sales of the calendar and the other items at the cafe press store go directly to feeding and vetting horses being cared for by rescue groups around the country. These are GREAT Christmas gifts!

Yes, I said it. Our Cassidy April is, without a doubt, the most beautiful girl in the world! She has been feeling good the past few weeks. She is feeling herself for the first time in a long time. She’s not pregnant and not nursing. She hasn’t had to deal with Becca for a month now and she is just fine with it. We had a training session with Therese this week and Cass showed off quite a bit. She and I are learning to work together and I know we are a great team. I need to learn a lot more than she does. We had a fun day giving pony rides yesterday to raise more funds for Delilah. Cass didn’t get in on the rides but she did get some attention.

Big Baby B’s Posse

Visited Becca yesterday. It was a quick visit to take her some food but I got some good pics. She wasn’t feeling too perky – it was real humid and she has a thicker coat than her momma. Leslie may be having to shave her soon. Momma Cass may be getting a trim, too. She worked up a sweat today and this is supposed to be our winter. Enjoy!

I’ve visited with Big Baby B the past two weekends and have no doubt she is comfy in her new digs. She is having a great time playing with the other two babies, but she also understands when it’s time to behave and work or behave and be patient. Here is a glimpse of all her new herd mates.

Meet Miss Rosabelle

Remember the injured Thoroughbred that was at my local shelter a few weeks back? Well, she was an owner give-up so it was possible for her to go immediately to rescue. Big thanks to Pure Thoughts for taking her. There was another horse at the shelter at the same time, but she had to wait out “stray time”. Yes, she was a stray horse. No one claimed her and she is far from healthy so she came out to rescue, too. I organized things for her and she is graciously being fostered by clients of ours, Vicki and Steve. She needs to gain about 350 pounds, her hooves were way overgrown and she has yuck all over her skin. She is the sweetest, best behaved horse, though, and we are all amazed someone simply let her go. Once she’s had time to get strong again, we will then begin looking for the perfect forever home for Miss Rosabelle.

Want you all to see how fuzzy our big girl has gotten with our time change and slightly cooler weather. She doesn’t realize here in FL the winter isn’t going to get to 50 below 0! Cassidy is feeling really good lately. Hate to say it, but ever since Becca left to go to Leslie’s. For the first time since she can remember, she’s not pregnant or nursing a baby. She has shown off a few times and reminded me she is a horse that can move that big butt when she wants. 🙂

I recently tested her out with a bareback pad. I didn’t get on her – just put the pad on and cinched it up to see her reaction. She was nervous when I first showed it to her, but I kept introducing it slowly and then she was fine. Maybe we will actually ride together someday.
